Atelier Madeleine Gera runs the following courses throughout the year -

Atelier Madeleine Gera

Madeleine offers studio space to painters who wish to work on portrait painting and the human figure.

Painting Course

Morning courses in painting are also available to those who wish to learn about figurative drawing and painting. The course is tailor made to meet the individuals need and level.

Cityscape

Outdoor painting and sketching of Valletta and its fortifications will also be available.

Participants

All artist s will be working from life and sharing a model between two for portrait painting.
Life classes will be offered once a week for 3 hours, the studio will be open from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm Monday to Friday.

The Studio

The studio is located in Republic Street, in the heart of Valletta, a masterpiece in baroque architecture whose fortifications were designed by Francesco Laparelli and Girolamo Cassar for the Knights of St. John.Valletta , the capital city of Malta, is steeped in history with breathtaking views and lively street scenes.

Drawing course

A challenging drawing programme focusing on precision work and accuracy. 
Starting with Bargue drawing exercises followed by drawing from the model and a one-month long project. 

Aim: to teach participants to catch the likeness of an object or person. This involves 'seeing' and 'accurately reproducing' the distances between features.

Price Lm80 (Euro 180) per month

Painting in oils

Beginners - After completing, the drawing programme color is introduced with a simple still life, lighting by a 'single light' to enhance and emphasize 'chiaroscuro'. 

Intermediate - A portrait bust in oils - to create a portrait of the sitter using the process outlined by the artist.

Advanced - A three quarter life size portrait in oils.

Aim: to capture the distinction between light and dark in oils within a still life.

Price Lm90 (Euro 203) per month

Note: The above courses will be held twice a week, morning or evenings, subject to participants requirements timetable. 
Monday, Wednesday -  9.30am to 12.30  or  5.30pm to 8.30pm

FREE STYLE PAINTING  

For those who have had some experience with painting and wish to work on their own projects with some instruction. 

Friday mornings, 10am to 12.30 
Price Lm50 (Euro 113) per month

Landscape

A one-week landscape course in Gozo - 6 hours of painting - Daily.

Locations: Xlendi, Dwejra Rabat, Mgarr Harbour , Ta Cenc, Imgarr Ix Xini (Gozo).

Price Lm120 (Euro 270) for tuition (excluding accommodation and food).
